Mission
Our aim is to provide a safe and enriching atmosphere so that our students can:
Programs
We offer a 3-year-old class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am to 11:30am, and a 4-year-old class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9am to 12pm.
3-Year-Old Class - At this stage, the main focus is to make sure the children feel comfortable in the school environment. The program includes free play, arts and crafts, fine motor and cognitive activities, snack, stories and songs, library time, and daily outdoor play.
4-Year-Old Class - The program for this age group is more structured and is designed to help the children prepare for kindergarten. It includes arts and crafts, fine motor and cognitive activities (ABCs, 123s, puzzles), gross motor skill development, theme projects, science, a “book buddy” program and daily outdoor play. Group activities include stories, poems, games, show and tell, structured outdoor games and hikes.
What’s A Cooperative?
A cooperative preschool is one that is run entirely by the participating families. Parents are responsible for helping the teacher in the classroom on their “duty” days, helping to care for and maintain the classroom, and participating in all fundraising events. The school is administered by a parent executive which consists of a president, treasurer, secretary, and registrar. The executive collects tuition fees, oversees fundraising events, manages the school’s finances, etc.
Teacher
Our current teacher Deb has been teaching at Peggy Brewin since 1999. She has an extensive background in the field of early childhood education and also has a lot of experience working with special needs children. She has three grown children who themselves attended Peggy Brewin. Deb’s first priority is the emotional and physical well-being of the children in her care. She is a gifted teacher and we are fortunate to have her.
